It seems I spoke too soon. All day, the clouds piled up over the sea of Marmara. Lightning flickered across the Anatolian side of the city, and thunder rumbled. Admittedly, those big bruised clouds have only graced us with a light smattering of drizzle – not nearly enough to prevent the dire water shortage that’s definitely lying in wait for Istanbul this summer – but it made a good show nonetheless. Sitting here by my open window, allowing the cooler air to drive out the heat that seems to have accumulated in our house over the last few days, I remember how much I actually like the rain.
